Spring Hill Lady Bears golfers kept their consistency of state tournament appearances in tack on Wednesday Sept. 27 to compete at the 2017 Class 2A state girls golf championships hosted by Camden Harmony Grove at DeGray Golf Course.

Spring Hill Lady Bears golfers kept their consistency of state tournament appearances in tack on Wednesday Sept. 27 to compete at the 2017 Class 2A state girls golf championships hosted by Camden Harmony Grove at DeGray Golf Course.

Among 20 schools represented, the Lady Bears finished third overall with a team total 334. Lady Bears' Graycee Barham led the team shooting 103 to finish with the fourth lowest score among all individual golfers competing.

Teammates Jada Quillin shot 113 and Jordyn Murphy shot 118 during their performance in the 18-hole match. 6-2A District Tourney Champs' Camden Harmony Grove Lady Hornets captured the state title with the overall best team score at 293. Harmony Grove's Sidney Pigott once again was the overall top golfer to earn medalist with the top score of the championships shooting a 81. Pigott also was the 6-2A district tournament girls medalist with the overall top score shooting a 83.

Finishing Class 2A state runner-up was Salem shooting a team score at 325. Carlisle shot 363, Quitman had 380, Magnet Cove 383, Mountainburg 384, McCrory 393, Marked Tree 403, Magazine 407 and Bigelow finished at 422.

Other schools that competed with individual performers included, Buffalo Island Central, Danville, Eureka Springs, Foreman, Hackett, Johnson County West, Marmaduke, Mt. Pine and Parkers Chapel.

The Lady Bears have had a history of state golf championships for their program and continuing a streak of state tournament appearances from multiple previously seasons since 2012. The Lady Bears earned several match victories this season and finished runner-ups at the 6-2A district tournament host at the Hope Country Club.

Lone senior team member Barham finishes her golf career with the Lady Bears. Barham has earned medalist honors in match competitions this season and finished third overall at district for top individual scores. Barham was apart of Spring Hill's state golf championship team in 2015 and competed in the overall golf tournament hosted at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Little Rock. Teammates Quillin and Murphy look to be the veterans for next season to qualify back to consecutive year to compete at the Class 2A state golf championships in 2018.
