This weekend, part of Southwest Arkansas youth league ball players will be returning to compete against several talented teams from all around the state in the 2017 USSSA state baseball tournament hosted in Conway. The tournament is scheduled June 23-25.

This weekend, part of Southwest Arkansas youth league ball players will be returning to compete against several talented teams from all around the state in the 2017 USSSA state baseball tournament hosted in Conway. The tournament is scheduled June 23-25.

League All-Stars teams from the Hope Baseball Softball Association will compete in the 8U, 10U and 12U state tournament divisions during the tournament to represent Hope and Southwest Arkansas.

Hope All-Star teams have prepared for their trip to Conway several weeks prior to competing in the state tournaments in several practices along competing in tune-up tourney's and scrimmages against other teams around the area. With hard work ethic to be polished and ready for battle against some of the most challenging and talented youth ball players in the Arkansas, their production showcased successful finishes for wins throughout the tournament for a good representation from South Arkansas last year.

During the 2016 state tournament, Hope 8U All-Stars under the went 1-2 in tourney competition. Hope All-Stars won their first game defeating Mena 19-0. In the second game, Hope All-Stars faced Monticello and came up short 18-8. In the third game, Hope All-Stars went to the wire against Monticello for the second time, but suffered a heartbreaking defeat 13-12.

Hope 10U All-Stars had two teams to represent on the diamond in Conway and finish third place overall out of 20 teams. Hope All-Stars lost their first game to MV Swarm 4-1. In the second game, Hope All-Stars prevailed over Caddo River 23-4, then defeated Wynne and Greenbrier 9-8. In their final game, Hope All-Stars secured an impressive victory over Maumelle, 13-2.

For the second Hope 10U All-Stars team competed in three games resulting in one run defeats. The first game, Hope 10U All-Stars fell to Greenwood 9-8, in the second game they lost to Sheridan 7-6 and for their finale game in tournament play came up short to Ozark 6-5.

Hope 12U All-Stars placed fourth overall out of 17 teams competing. In the first game, Hope All-Stars had a competitive battle that resulted in a tie against Bradley County 5-5. For the second game, Hope All-Stars defeated Van Buren 6-5, they prevailed over Fayetteville 10-3 in the third game. For the fourth and final game of tournament action, Hope All-Stars would fall to Greenwood 9-1.

For this year's up coming state tournament, the 8U Coach Pitch All-Star division features up to 19 teams to compete consisting of Alma, Fayetteville, Greenbrier, Lake Hamilton, Mena, Ozark, Sheridan, Vilonia, Van Buren, Warren, Wynne, Monticello, Heber Springs Greenwood, Maumelle, Star City, Montgomery County and Pointers All-Stars. During pool play competition Saturday June 24, Hope All-Stars are scheduled to begin action at 2:30 p.m. against Greenwood All-Stars, then at 5:30 p.m. Hope battles Alma All-Stars.

In the 10U All-Star state tournament division features 16 teams such as Alma, Caddo River, Fayetteville, Lake Hamilton, Greenwood, Greenbrier, Heber Springs, Wynne, Vilonia, Star City, Maumelle, Sheridan, Warren, Monticello, Van Buren. For pool play on Saturday June 24, Hope 10 All-Stars start baseball action against Caddo River Boyz at 3:15 p.m., then Hope battles Warren All-Stars at 5 p.m.

In the 12U All-Star state tournament division will highlight 18 teams from Alma, North Little Rock, Clinton, Fayetteville, Greenbrier, Greenwood, Heber Springs, Lake Hamilton, Ozark, Vilonia, Wynne, Mena, Sheridan, Star City and Hot Springs. Hope 10U All-Stars begin pool play on Saturday June 24 against Alma All-Stars at 3:15 p.m., then Hope faces Greenwood All-Stars at 5 p.m.

Tournament mode with division championship games takes place on Sunday June 25 in Conway. Times of tournament games may change if inclement weather occurs.
