The road back to Bogle Park has been another challenging task for the reigning Class 2A state softball champion Spring Hill Lady Bears for season 2017. The Lady Bears had several close encounters, including a couple of extra inning showdowns, but still maintained to fulfill their quest to journey back to the big game to compete for a 3-Peat championship.

The following is a look back at the Lady Bears road back to Bogle Park.

Lady Bears shutout Dierks in double-header to begin season 2017

The 2-time reigning Class 2A state champions Spring Hill Lady Bears debuted on the diamond for softball season 2017 victorious on the road in two shutout wins over the Dierks Lady Outlaws to begin their year of competition on the winning trail.

 

Lady Bears 3-1, shutout Glen Rose 6-0 in D-Mac tourney

The Spring Hill Lady Bears posted their third shutout victory of the 2017 softball season Thursday night against the Glen Rose Lady Beavers 6-0 in opening tourney play in the 2017 Debra McMaster Memorial Scholarship Tournament hosted at Fair Park. The highlight hit of the night came from power-hitter Teague blasting a home run to record her first one this season. Teague also had three RBI's, Ward had two RBI's and Chambless had one RBI. Gammage and Teague each scored two runs apiece, Katie Rivera and Ward each scored one run. The Lady Bears collected five total runs with six runs scored to allow the visiting Lady Beavers only three hits with two errors and scoreless in the game.

 

Lady Bears finish fourth in D-Mac tourney

Returning to diamond as the host team in the Debra McMaster Memorial Scholarship Softball Tournament, the reigning Class 2A state champs' Spring Hill Lady Bears finished the tourney fourth going 1-2 shutting out the Glen Rose Lady Beavers 6-0 and falling to Taylor Lady Tigers 3-0 and Malvern Lady Leopards 7-3. The Lady Bears are 3-3 overall into the 2017 softball.

 

Lady Bears fight tough, suffer close home defeat hosting Parkers Chapel 6-4 in eight innings

The reigning Class 2A state softball champions Lady Bears returned to the diamond for their first conference encounter hosting the Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans in their second home game of the season earlier this week in Spring Hill. Once again deja vu haunted the Lady Bears at home to fall in another extra inning showdown on the diamond in Spring Hill.

Parkers Chapel and Spring Hill played a tight game, but Lady Trojans pulled out the 6-4 victory in eight innings to take the first game in league series softball action.

 

Lady Bears defense stands strong, shutout in defeat by Horatio 1-0

For an intense defensive stance on the diamond by the visiting Spring Hill Lady Bears on the road facing the Horatio Lady Lions in a non-conference affair. The Lady Bears held strong through five innings of play, but lost the lead late in a 1-0 defeat to Horatio. The game was scoreless with Horatio batting in the bottom of the sixth when Horatio singled off of Spring Hill pitcher Kalyne Powell, driving in one run.

Lady Bears shutout Lafayette County in double-header, fall short to Bauxite at home

The Spring Hill Lady Bears kept their winning ways progressing on the diamond in recent softball action to defeat Lafayette County 15-0 in both match-ups for a double-header in conference play, but losing a close brawl to Bauxite Lady Miners 2-0 in a non-conference affair in Spring Hill. This Thursday, the Lady Bears continue more intense softball play on the road to take on Class 4A Malvern Lady Leopards for a non-conference encounter on the diamond.

 

Lady Bears secure conference road win at Parkers Chapel

The Spring Hill Lady Bears pulled off a big conference road victory against the Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans 2-1 to seek revenge from their first encounter defeat in Spring Hill to split league series play on the diamond. The Lady Bears prevailed over Parkers Chapel for the one run win after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at 1-1 with Spring Hill batting in the top of the sixth when Maegan Ward homered driving in one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. Kalyne Powell struck out 11 batters and threw 73 strikes in seven inning of work to earn the win from the pitcher's circle.

Spring Hill captured the lead in the first inning on a sacrifice bunt by Katie Rivera scoring one run for the Lady Bears.

 

Lady Bears victorious on senior night against Murfreesboro; secure big road win at Malvern

The Lady Bears recorded a few impressive wins on the diamond in recent softball action. The Lady Bears secured a another shutout victory that included a double-header to defeat Murfreesboro on senior night at home on Monday night at Spring Hill. Senior Kelsey Gammage and Maegan Ward homered against the Lady Rattlers to sweep their series meeting in their double-header. The Lady Bears also recorded a huge road win at Malvern last Thursday April 13. Katie Rivera and Ward each recorded a home road in their win over the Lady Leopards. This week, the Lady Bears are scheduled to face Foreman on this Friday night on the road.

 

Lady Bears fall to Taylor in extra innings, sweep double-header against Foreman

The Spring Hill Lady Bears had another tough encounter on the diamond in road action against the Taylor Lady Tigers to fall short 5-4, but took care of business to sweep wins in a double-header facing the Foreman Lady Gators 5-4 and 4-0.

 

Lady Bears head in district tourney at Parkers Chapel with winning momentum

The Spring Hill Lady Bears wrapped up the regular season schedule victorious over the Glen Rose Lady Beavers 3-1 in seven innings, then entered into the 7-2A East District softball tournament topping Bearden 15-0 to qualify for the 2A South Region tourney. The Lady Bears advanced to the district tourney semifinals to face host Parkers Chapel. The Lady Bears sparked big to a 15-0 shutout victory against Bearden in first round action in the district tournament to secure a qualifying spot in the 2A South Regional tourney. The Lady Bears collected 10 hits on eight scored runs in the first inning, then one in the second and six in the third inning. Powell earned the win for another shutout and no-hitter performance from the pitcher's circle. Powell pitched three innings, struck out six batters and threw 22 strikes. Teague and Ward both displayed the highlight hits of the game with home runs.

Lady Bears clinch regional berth, finish third at district tourney

The reigning Class 2A state champion Spring Hill Lady Bears seek a further step ahead to defend their title to reappear in the 2A South Regional Softball Tournament in Magnet Cove. The Lady Bears officially clinch a spot for the regional tournament by defeating their first round opponent Bearden in the 7-2A East Conference Tournament. In the semifinals, the Lady Bears fell to Rison, but regrouped to defeat Camden Harmony Grove in the third place game for the No. 3 spot from the East at Regionals.

 

Lady Bears advance to state semifinals, top Lavaca and Marmaduke

Defending the land for the third time on the diamond in postseason competition successfully in their title defense Thursday and Friday May 11-12 in East Poinsett County saw the reigning Class 2A state softball champions' Lady Bears prevail against Lavaca 6-2 in the opening round and Marmaduke 5-1 in the quarterfinals of the state softball tournament.

 

Lady Bears top Poyen in state semifinals to return to Bogle Park for third consecutive title defense

The Class 2A state softball reigning champions' Spring Hill Lady Bears are making their third consecutive trip to defend their title at Bogle Park this Saturday May 20 on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. Due to prevailing in the state softball tournament over the weekend in East Poinsett County knocking off No. 1 seed Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds 5-1 in the quarterfinals, then shutting out Poyen 2-0 in the semifinals to officially earn their way back to the finals.
