The Hope Ladycats returned to tourney competition on the diamond Thursday night in a showdown against the Fouke Lady Panthers in the 2017 Debra McMaster Memorial Scholarship Softball Tournament hosted at Fair Park.

The Hope Ladycats returned to tourney competition on the diamond Thursday night in a showdown against the Fouke Lady Panthers in the 2017 Debra McMaster Memorial Scholarship Softball Tournament hosted at Fair Park.

Even though the Ladycats and Fouke both had their opportunities, it was the Lady Panthers that eventually prevailed 11-7. The game was tied at 7-7 with Fouke batting in the top of the fourth when there was an error, scoring one run.

Despite the loss, the Ladycats did collect four hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Fouke had six hits on the way to victory.

Fouke captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for the Lady Panthers.

After Fouke scored one run in the top of the third, the Ladycats answered with one of their own. Fouke scored on a ground out, bringing one to cross home plate. Hope then answered when Tatyanna Smith homered, driving in one run.

Fouke's Tabi Floyd earned the win for Fouke at the pitcher's circle. Floyd pitched four innings, allowing seven runs, four hits, and striking out three batters. Hope's Raley Potter pitched, allowing 11 runs, six hits, striking out two batters and threw 47 strikes in four innings of work.

Home runs for Hope came when Potter homered in the first inning and Smith homered in the first and third innings, with Emily Zimmer collecting a single for the Ladycats four hits against Fouke

Smith and Potter each drove in two runs to lead Hope.

Smith scored two runs, Andria Curtis, Potter, Shakira Ellis, Emily Zimmer and Morgan Gray all scored runs. Smith and Potter had two RBI's and Zahria Woods had one RBI. Zimmer also had a stolen base.

The Ladycats will continue more D-Mac softball tournament competition this Saturday at Fair Park.
