The 2A South Regional No. 1 seed Spring Hill Lady Bears will be returning to the Class 2A state tournament next week after posting another hard fought win against their rivals' Magnet Cove Lady Panthers 47-43 in first round action Wednesday in regional tourney hosted at Magnet Cove Gymnasium.

The 2A South Regional No. 1 seed Spring Hill Lady Bears will be returning to the Class 2A state tournament next week after posting another hard fought win against their rivals' Magnet Cove Lady Panthers 47-43 in first round action Wednesday in regional tourney hosted at Magnet Cove Gymnasium.

The Lady Bears were led by Graycee Barham dropping 17 points and Katie Rivera contributing 16 points for double-figures. The Lady Bears fell behind early from a big first quarter spark by the Lady Panthers taking a 6-0 lead down to the 3:59 mark. After a time out called by Spring Hill head coach Roy Whatley, the Lady Bears regrouped and came out with aggression.

Barham got the Lady Bears on the board making a pair of free-throws, then Christy Randle stepped up defensively with steal in the open-court and took it all the way for a lay-up to pull Spring Hill within two points of Magnet Cove's lead 6-4 with one minute remaining in the first period. Rivera posted Spring Hill's final basket in opening quarter action with 40 seconds to play in the first, at Magnet Cove led the Lady Bears 8-6 to end period number one.

In the second, Rivera drained a trifecta from behind the arc and Maegan Ward knocked down a couple of free-throws which give Spring Hill their first lead of the game 11-10 at the 6:32 mark. Magnet Cove answered back with a trey (3-pointer) to take a two point advantage 13-11. Later Barham posted another basket with Randle that tied the game 15-15 with 1:18 left to play in first half action. Barham made another pair of free-throws to give the Lady Bears a 17-15 lead, but Magnet Cove finished the second period with a basket to knot the at halftime 17-17.

In the second half, the Lady Bears came out with a big rally in the third quarter with scoring contributions from Spring Hill's Big 3 Rivera, Barham and Randle. The Lady Bears took a 33-27 lead ending third quarter play going into the fourth period.

In the fourth, Barham and Rivera accounted the scoring for the Lady Bears down to the 3:58 mark to give Spring Hill their biggest lead of the game 41-33. Magnet Cove didn't go away as they came within one point of Spring Hill's lead 43-42 down to the 1:23 mark. Ward stepped up to knock down four crucial free-throws going perfect at the line (4 of 4) in the fourth that led to a Lady Bears' four point victory and officially qualifying for the state tournament.

For the game, Randle finished the night with eight points and Ward had six points for the Lady Bears. With the win, the Lady Bears improve to 18-10 overall and rolling on an eight game winning-streak.

On Friday at 4 p.m., the Lady Bears will compete in the 2A South Region girls semifinals against Thursday's winner of Caddo Hills vs. Parkers Chapel at Magnet Cove.
