Blevins head coach Scott Kelton with the Hornets finished runner-ups to the top-ranked Class 2A team in the state Cutter Morning Star in the boys championship game last Friday in the 7-2A West District Tournament hosted at Cutter Morning Start in Hot Springs. Tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Magnet Cove, the Blevins Hornets will start their mission to qualifying for the state tournament as they'll face Rison Wildcats in the opening round of the 2A South Regional Tournament hosted at Magnet Cove.

The Hornets had an intense district tournament finals battle against Cutter Morning Star. The Hornets fell short to the unbeaten overall No. 1 ranked team in Class 2A Cutter Morning Star 68-51. The Hornets were led by big man Zane Kirkham with 16 points for double-figures. Deandre Burton followed with nine points, Bailey Lee added eight points, Corta Young, Monterian Todd and Cameron Lane all scored four points apiece. Ernan Gomez, Camdon Narlesky and Hunter Choate each contributed two points apiece in the district tourney finals. As a result, the Hornets head into the 2A South Boys Regional Tournament as the No. 2 seed from the West.

Thus far, the Hornets are 22-12 overall entering into the regional tourney hosted at Magnet Cove.
