Blevins Lady Hornets senior and junior high basketball squads return to the "Paul Noesser Court" for competition hosting Foreman Lady Gators at the Imon G. Brown Gymnasium Thursday night for their final battle at home to close out the 2016 year. In junior high hoops, the Jr. Lady Hornets went down to the wire in a intense match-up to begin one of a three game night homestand of competition.

The Jr. Lady Hornets fought hard to the end, but got edged by the visiting Lady Gators 30-28. For the game, Jr. Lady Hornets were led in scoring by Bailey Hall with 12 points to post in double-figures. For Foreman, Makayla Walker led all scorers with a big 22 points for double-figures. The loss keeps the Jr. Lady Hornets at plus .500 at 9-4 overall.

For senior high girls action, the Lady Hornets took care of business and came out victorious to defeat the Foreman Lady Gators 63-53. In first half play, the Lady Hornets jumped out to a big early advantage to end opening period action with a 21-14 lead over Foreman. In the second quarter, the Lady Hornets sparked for 17 points and defensively held Foreman under double-digits scoring with six points scored in the period. At halftime, the Lady Hornets marched into the locker room with a 38-20 halftime lead over Foreman. In the second half, the Lady Hornets stung the net for 25 points but the Lady Gators dropped 33 points in the basket for third and fourth quarter scoring. In the end, the Lady Hornets rolled onto a 10 point win to improve to 13-2 overall. For the game, Jasmine Batson led scoring with a strong 21 points and Amani Furlow poured 17 points and drained five trifecta's from behind the arc for three-pointers, Diana Samuels added 11 points and Madison Hall had 10 points for a four-player scoring team of double-figures. Kaylee Kelton contributed four points in the Lady Hornets' key win.

The Lady Hornets and Jr. Lady Hornets will finish out the 2016 year of hoops on the road Monday Dec. 19 at Murfreesboro before the Christmas holiday break.
