Spring Hill Lady Bears senior and junior high teams swept victories on the road and at home in recent battles for basketball action. Last Friday Dec. 9, the Lady Bears senior high team took care of business on the hardwood defeating Murfreesboro Lady Rattlers 37-30. The Lady Bears had a early first quarter one point deficit to Murfreesboro 7-6 at the end of the period. In the second, the Lady Rattlers scored 10 points and held the Lady Bears under double-digits with eight points scored.
At halftime, the Lady Bears trailed Murfreesboro 17-14. In the second half, the Lady Bears came out fierce with a spark to out-scored Murfreesboro in both third and fourth quarter scoring. The Lady Bears knocked down 11 points in the third and scored 12 points in the fourth to hold Murfreesboro under double-digit scoring in both second half periods. For the game, Lady Bears Katie Rivera led scoring with 14 points for double-figures, Christy Randle and Graycee Barham each scored eight points apiece, Cait Light finished with three points, Jessi Park and Maegan Ward each finished with two key points in the team's victory. For Murfreesboro, Arianna Leeper led all scorers with 17 points for double-figures.
On Monday night at Spring Hill Gymnasium, the Lady Bears and Jr. Lady Bears junior varsity squads competed in basketball action to sweep wins hosting Lafayette County. The Jr. Lady Bears JV team defeated Lafayette County 27-15. Darcie Chambless led scoring with 10 points for double-figures, Keely Plyler added five points, Jessie Vickers scored four points, Rilee Hammonds, Jaci Helms, Mahayla Otis and Miranda Bass each contributed two points apiece. For the senior high junior varsity game, the JV Lady Bears defeated Lafayette County 45-30 for a 15 point victory.
The JV Lady Bears took a 29-18 lead into the locker room over Lafayette County. In the second half, the JV Lady Bears totaled for 16 points with the Lady Cougars scoring 12 points for third and fourth quarter action. For the game, JV Lady Bears were led by Keylee Lewis with 11 points for double-figures, Claire Chambless scored nine points, Anna Collier added seven points, Abbi Fisher had six points, Grace Rowe chipped in four points, Cosi Dorn, Skylar Rhodes, Alana King and Alex Schmolling each had two points apiece.
This Thursday night Dec. 15, the Lady Bears junior high hoopsters will be home to host Trinity Christian. Then on Friday Dec. 16, the senior high Lady Bears return to the hardwood to host their rivals' Mineral Springs for an highly anticipated bout at Spring Hill Gymnasium.
