Hope Ladycats basketball varsity and junior varsity squads split victories on the road Tuesday night against De Queen. The JV Ladycats secured a 19-18 win over De Queen with Tacara Phillips making a put back basket at the buzzer off a key rebound to will Hope the victory. JV Ladycats' Gladajah Haynes led scoring with five points, Nikey'a Harris and Zahria Woods each scored four points. Courtney Davis, Phillips and Cortiunna Muldrew each had two points apiece.

In senior high action, the Ladycats competed hard, but De Queen Lady Leopards would prevail for a 60-30 victory. In first quarter action, the Ladycats held a 13-4 deficit, then De Queen jumped out to run to out-score Hope 17-3 advantage. At halftime, Hope trailed De Queen 30-16.

In the second half, the Ladycats totaled for 14 points scored for double-digits, but the Lady Leopards sparked for a combine third and fourth quarter scoring of 30 points to hand visiting Hope a tough road defeat in their first of two game series meeting. For the game, Ladycats' Andria Curtis led scoring with seven points, Quiana Gulley posted six points and Raley Potter added five points. The Ladycats shot 55 percent from the foul line hitting 5 of 9 shots.

Today, the Ladycats travel to New Boston, Texas to compete in the 2016 Gunslinger tournament. The Ladycats are scheduled to face Liberty-Eylau beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Gunslinger tournament runs through Dec. 8-10 in New Boston, Texas.
