The Hope ninth grade junior high girls basketball team returned home for action Monday night to host Magnolia at Jones Fieldhouse Gymnasium.

Ra'Nayzia Miller secured a big scoring performance to pour 25 points with two trifecta's from behind the arc in the basket for a season-high and Lanay Wheaton dropping 13 points for double-figures to lift Hope over Magnolia 42-26.

The win improves to Hope's ninth grade girls basketball team to 4-1 overall. Miller and Wheaton sparked Hope's offense early in first quarter play to give them a 15-4 advantage over Magnolia heading into the second period. Miller would score 11 points in the second, with Wheaton adding a basket and SarahWillis and Genesis Muldrow each contributing a point from the free-throw line to give Hope the 28-9 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Hope continued their momentum to total for 14 points scored taking a 37-22 lead at the end of the third period. Hope adding five points in the fourth with two points from Miller and Mariuna McClenton and Wheaton adding a point from the charity stripe. Magnolia posted 17 points scored total for third and fourth quarters, but Hope marched onto a 16 point win.

Hope ninth grade girls basketball team with the boys will return to hoop action this Thursday at home hosting Ashdown beginning with eighth grade girls action at 5 p.m. at Jones Fieldhouse Gymnasium.
