The Hope Bobkittens ninth grade basketball team have begun the 2016-17 junior high hoops season 2-1 overall for all of their three games played on the road thus far.

The Hope Bobkittens ninth grade basketball team have begun the 2016-17 junior high hoops season 2-1 overall for all of their three games played on the road thus far.

The Bobcats prevailed over Arkadelphia in the season opener, then topped Texarkana to move to 2-0 overall, but recently came up short to Ashdown on Monday night for ninth grade boys hoops.

In Ashdown, the Bobkittens had a first half deficit 24-13 to Ashdown at halftime. In the second half, the Bobkittens dropped 16 points for double-digits, but Ashdown poured 27 points into the basket to give Hope a tough 51-29 loss for the team's first defeat of the year.

For the game, Montarious Kendericks led scoring with eight points, Mekhi Henderson scored six points, C. Young had five points and Zak Box chipped four points.

Following the Thanksgiving holiday break, the Bobkittens will return to junior high action Monday night Nov. 28 hosting Hot Springs Lakeside for their home-opener in for the nightcap game at Jones Fieldhouse Gymnasium.
