The hometown community will have it's very own dance team to showcase their skills and talents in upcoming competitions for 2017. The Hope Rockers dancers have began their preparation in practices to be polished and ready to compete. Under the direction of Natashia Martin, founder and director of the Hope Rockers has several young ladies to participate for representation of Hope.
The purpose of this dance team was to create a local, free dance company for girls in the Hope area that provided after school tutoring, mentorship, team building, community service to perfect hip-hop dance instruction and routines. Thus far, there are 28 dancers from ages 2-17 years old participating.Tutoring, snacks and dance lessons are free of charge.
Martin said during school months, they'll be concentrating more in academics than dance competitions so the kids remain focused on their education, but will be practicing hard and participating in competition periodically. During the summer months, the Rockers will be actively competing in dance competitions, mostly out of town. Thanks to some local business leaders, they'll have vans available for the dance team to travel safely.
The Rockers are currently raising money through fundraisers and working towards purchasing team uniforms and requesting help from the community. Local businesses may sponsor the Rockers or make a donation. For more information about the Rockers or want to help them in anyway, please feel free to contact dance team director Natashia Martin at 870-826-0076 or email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. The Rockers anticipate their first dance competition in February 2017 in Magnolia.
