The first phase of the new $4 million Spring Hill Elementary School that adjoins the existing fifth and sixth grade rooms is complete and ready for students.
Teachers had rooms filled and walls decorated on Monday ready for school to start on Wednesday.
“It is going to be so nice, “ Spring Hill Elementary secretary Tina Huckabee said.
The secretary is currently in a hallway section of the new building until the second phase is complete, which will house her office.
“There is a lot of work still to do before school starts, but it will all be worth it,” she said.
Spring Hill High School Principal Steve Britton said Monday more information will be available at a later date on bussing and parking. He said there has been a delay in creating a second campus exit due to the Arkansas Highways and Transportation Department having to complete weather-related damage currently on four state highways.
The ground work is already started for the second phase that will connect to the existing new section and a section of the yellow building (from which the front section was demolished) which will sit behind the second phase.
The newly-completed section houses the third and fourth grade classrooms and a new, large art room.
