BLEVINS - The Blevins School Board will meet on Monday at 7 p.m. to discuss a classified reduction in force policy. Superintendent Randy Treat said the policy is a further explanation.
“The way it is stated now, it leaves it up to the discretion of the superintendent of what the criteria will be; with the expansion of the policy it will set out in black and white for the classified employees to know exactly where they stand in the future, even with changes in administration,” Treat said.
Although a few classified positions may not be offered for the coming year, Treat said much time and effort was put into handling the policy change for the good of the classified employees.
“It will make it clearer for them to understand exactly where they stand,” he said.
He said he does not like to refer to it as an “Emmet” situation.
“It came to light when the budgetary shortfall came to light. It was very unclear and vague for the classified staff,” Treat said.
Treat said the classified staff will have a chance to approve the policy before the board would vote and make it school policy.
Treat will inform the board of audit report results and accept the resignation of a custodian, among other items on the agenda.
