HOPE--Edward “Eddy” H. Byers, Jr., of Hope, born on August 17, 1941, to Blanch and Edward Howell Byers of Hope, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2009. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher and a charter member of the Hempstead County Rescue unit. He also served as the president of the Arkansas State Plant Managers Association from 1999-2000 and was an active member of Shover Springs Baptist Church. He worked for Cornbelt, Red River Technical College, and the University of Arkansas at Hope, where he retired. He was preceded in death his father, Edward Howell Byers; his brother, Wilton Wallace Byers, and an infant sister.
Survivors include his mother, Blanch Light Byers, of Hope; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Marian Byers, of Hope, and two nieces, Amanda Byers, of Conway, and Emily Smith and husband Wayne Smith, of Texarkana, Texas.
Visitation will take place on Friday, June 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at Shover Springs Baptist Church, with interment following at Shover Springs Cemetery. Sign the online guestbook at www.pharrfuneralhomes.com.
