BATESVILLE, MISS.--Melvin Clifton Joy, Jr., died Friday, May 8, 2009, at his home. He was born September 2, 1939, in Bryan, Texas, to Melvin and Irene Joy. He graduated from Hope High School in 1957 and retired from Eco Laboratory in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Ann Waller, of Windom, Texas.
Survivors include one son, Doug Joy and Becky, of Batesville, Miss.; one daughter, Galelyn J. Holland, of Pontotoe, Miss.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and four brothers, James E. Joy and Robbie, of Hempstead, Texas, Robert E. Joy and Paula, of Marlow, Okla., John Joy and Melba, and David Joy and Karen, all of Hope.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Macedonia Cemetery in Hope, with the Rev. Jacob Waller officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Online guestbook: www.brazzelfuneralhomes.com
