PRESCOTT--John Hastings, 79, of Prescott, died June 28, 2009, in a Prescott nursing center. He was born March 18, 1930, to John and Littie McCullugh Hastings in Laneburg. He was a truck driver and dispatcher for Hines Trucking and attended the Methodist Church in Emmet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Joey and Gavin Hastings; three brothers, Willard, James, and Sam Hastings, and three sisters, Maggie Cross, Macy Gourley, and Lucille Wicker.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Hastings, of Prescott; two sons, Ricky and Cheryl Hastings, of Prescott, and Billy and Crystal Hastings, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one sister, Sue Nelson, of Bluff City; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, at 4 p.m. in the Pharr Funeral Home of Prescott Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, at Pharr Funeral Home in Prescott from 6-8 p.m. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home of Prescott.
