-Lois Anne Toland Selph, 64, of Gurdon, died October 22, 2009, at a Little Rock hospital, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was born September 22, 1945, in Smithton to Hubert Eugene “Tobe” and Lois Edith McDonald Toland.
She graduated with a B.S.E. and an M.S.E. in mathematics from Henderson State University. She taught math for 16 years at Gurdon High School and for 20 years at Ouachita Baptist University. She was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church in Gurdon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Anne is survived by her husband of 46 years, Carroll Selph; one son, John and Laura Selph, of Greenville, Texas; two daughters, Michelle “Shelly” and Paul Efird, of Perkinston, Miss., and Mary and Dan Leamons, of Gurdon; one brother, Jewel Toland, of Camden; three sisters, Gloria Scoggins, and Janice Foshee, both of Gurdon, and Ramona “Mickey” Johnson of Hope; four granddaughters, Katherine and Kayla Efird, Rebekah Leamons, and Kate Anne Selph, and one step-grandson, Caleb Leamons.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 25, from 3-5 p.m., and the funeral will be held Monday, October 26, at 2 p.m. at Beach Street Baptist Church in Gurdon with Bros. Randy Cox and Rusty Jones will officate. Burial will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home in Gurdon.
