DENISON, TEXAS--Clarence Homer Knighton, 81, of Denison, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his home. He was born May 3, 1928, in Stamps to the late Clarence R. and Evie Andrews Knighton.
He graduated from Stamps High School in 1946 and attended Arkansas A & M in Magnolia. He had many talents and worked for Firestone Tire Stores, White Auto, and owned several businesses. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith Knighton.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce Hodnett Knighton, of Denison; one daughter, Penny Carruth and husband, Mel, of Denison; two sons, Charles Knighton, of Houston, Texas and Kenneth Knighton, of Allen, Texas; seven sisters, Evelyn Rogers, of Stamps, Erma Aldridge, of Waldo, Thelma Wright, of Clarksville, Miss., Nada Clement and husband, J. C., of Pine Bluff, Jean Young and husband Victor, of Pratsville, and Ola Hooper, of Kilgore, Texas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at the Bodcaw Baptist Church in Bodcaw with the Rev. Jerry Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Bodcaw under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in Stamps.
