Mrs. Mattie Lee Hawkins, 79, of Hope, died January 10, 2010, in a Benton hospital. She was born June 6, 1930, and she was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Hawkins, Sr.; and, three children, Oda Mae, Roberta, and Donnie Hawkins.
Survivors include six daughters, Wilma Jean Hawkins, Barbara Ann Hawkins, Annie Pearl Anderson, and Ethel Lee (James) Fagan, all of Witchita, Kan., Cearlia Mae Brandy, of Texarkana, and Darthy (Marcus) Fuller, of Collinsville, Ill.; three sons, Hardy (Dorothy) Hawkins, Jr., Sonny Hawkins and David Hawkins, of Mineral Springs, and Spencer (Sharon) Hawkins, of San Antonio, Texas.
Also surviving are two brothers, Kenneth Charles and James Charles Anderson, of Hope; 33 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, January 15, at Hicks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 16, at 2:30 p.m., at Rising Star Baptist Church in Hope with Rev. Marcus Fuller, euologist, and Bishop Johnnie Jones, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery in Ozan under direction of Hicks Funeral Home, Inc., of Hope.
