Mr. Hollis W. “Dick” Stewart, 94, of Prescott, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, in a Little Rock hospital.
He was born on December 5, 1915, near Laneburg, to Lewis and Ella Waddle Stewart. He was a retired businessman in Prescott for many years and also raised cattle. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Prescott, former Administrative Board Chairman and served on various committees over the years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, former Nevada County treasurer, former president of the Rotary Club, 50-year member of the American Legion, and an Air Force veteran of World War, II having served in the Army Air Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers, one sister and a son, Bill McDougald.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Emma Gene Barnes Stewart, of Prescott; one son Gary Stewart (Susie), of Little Rock,; one daughter Mary Kate Dillon (Len), of Bassett, Vir.; four grandchildren, Laura Stewart Edwards (Jimmy), of Little Rock, Lisa Stewart Zachary (Preston), of Little Rock, Caitlin Dillon, and Molly Dillon, of Basset Vir.; and, three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Grant, and Preston Edwards of Little Rock.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 16, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Carlton Cross, his great nephew, officiating.
