A Batesville woman was killed and two members of her family were injured in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 30 near here Sunday morning.
Gloria Balderas, 44, of 290 Penrod St. in Batesville, was killed when the 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck in which she was riding with family members left the roadway and struck a tree, according to a report by Arkansas State Police Trooper Chris Harper.
Trooper Harper’s report said the truck, being driven by Jesus Balderas, 41, of 290 Penrod St. in Batesville, was traveling eastbound on I-30 approximately two miles west of Prescott about 7:26 a.m. Sunday when it went out of control, left the pavement and struck a tree.
Jesus Balderas, and Jesus Balderas, Jr., 15, also of 290 Penrod St. in Batesville, were both injured in the accident and were transported to Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.
All three victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident; and, while Harper’s report states road conditions were wet, the weather was not indicated on the report as a factor in the accident.
