Hope, Ark. -

Winter does return, but it will not be too sticky, as of the most recent morning forecast out of Shreveport, La.

“A cold front is approaching and ahead of the cold front scattered showers and thunderstorms will form for this afternoon and overnight,” National Weather Service Forecaster C.S. Ross said.

Ross said falling temperatures are expected Friday with the passage of the cold front with strong northwest winds.
“Also Friday, we can’t rule out light flurries with a little light sleet,” Ross said.

No accumulation is expected at this time, according to Ross.
The overnight lows for Saturday morning will be around the 25 degree mark continuing cold throughout Saturday with the high at 38 degrees.
“Sunday night lows will reach 20 degrees before a slow warming trend begins Sunday and Monday,” Ross said.

Hempstead County Emergency Management Coordinator Jessica Hardin said the area of most concern if the county receives much rain is the county roads.
“The main issue would be worrying about flooded roads because they are at their max,” Hardin said.

Hardin said reports are still not sure how far south the rains will go and she, along with Hempstead County Judge Wallace Martin, are hopeful the county will not get a lot of rain.

“The county roads could have washouts with much rain,” Hardin said.
She warned that citizens should not drive through water where they cannot see to the bottom. She also noted with freezing temperatures in the forecast to be careful on bridges and overpasses.
