Two incidents during the weekend resulted in a Spring Hill-area man being airlifted to a Texarkana hospital and a burglar being busted after a foot chase.

An argument between two brothers resulted in one brother being stabbed Saturday night, Hempstead County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy James Singleton said.

“Hempstead County Deputy Gary Dorman as dispatched to Crappie Street in the Bois D’Arc Lake area in reference to a physical altercation in progress between two brothers, Andy and Randy Beasley,” Singleton said.
He said other deputies responded and were told that what began as a verbal altercation escalated and Randy Beasley was “cut with a knife.”
Singleton said Randy Beasley was transported by Pafford Emergency Medical Services into Spring Hill, where an air ambulance awaited at the Spring Hill Schools campus, and Beasley was airlifted to a hospital in Texarkana. He said Randy Beasley was subsequently treated and released at the hospital.

“Andy Beasley was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center and booked on charges of battery in the second degree,” Singleton said. “He is awaiting a first judicial appearance.”

Earlier in the weekend, a Hempstead County deputy and a Hope Police Department officer teamed up to arrest a burglary suspect, Singleton said.
“Hempstead County Deputy Tracy Cox and Hope Police Officer Doug Lafferty were dispatched to the 2500 block of West Avenue B to a report of a suspicious person in the back yard of a residence,” he said.

“Upon arrival, the officers observed a male known to them as Darren Howard in a storage shed at the residence, who was placing items from the shed into a bag, and when confronted by officers, Howard fled on foot.”
After a short foot chase through the neighborhood, Singleton said Howard was located and arrested without incident at another residence. He was arrested on allegations of breaking and entering and theft of property and awaits a first judicial appearance.

Singleton did not say what items were taken or their value.
