In a press statement to the Hope Star last week, Cineflix Productions announced that Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz of the American Pickers television series would be filming a series of episodes in Arkansas, including southwest Arkansas, during the months of October and November.
“The show will film episodes in Arkansas this mid-October and November. The team is looking for people in your area with unique antique collections and interesting stories behind them. We are trying to get the word out as soon as possible, so the sooner people with large collections reach out to us the better,” Victoria Weinberg, casting coordinator for the show in New York City, said.
Weinburg said a special 800-number, 1-855-OLD-RUST (653-7878), has been set up for interested persons to call.
“Mike and Frank are only interested in private collections, so we are not soliciting any stores, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses or anything open to the general public,” she said.
The show ‘American Pickers’ is a History Channel documentary series, now in its 17th season, that explores the world of ‘antique picking.’ The hit show follows Wolfe and Fritz, two self-styled Antique experts, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques. The show highlights the sometimes sizeable and unique collections and learn the interesting stories behind them.
The show is also known as a bit of a cultural experience as the production team travels, often to smalltown America, to recycle and rescue forgotten relics.
“Along the way, the Pickers want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way,” Wienburg said.
In the current 2017 fall season, new television episodes of the series started airing October 16 on the History Channel.
