With a plethora of check-ins expected Tuesday evening, the 32nd Annual Hempstead County Fair is now underway with a first round of judging happening this afternoon at Hope's Fair Park and Fairgrounds.

With a plethora of check-ins expected Tuesday evening, the 32nd Annual Hempstead County Fair is now underway with a first round of judging happening this afternoon at Hope’s Fair Park and Fairgrounds.
Also tonight, the Dutch Oven Cookoff happens at 5 p.m. followed by the Goat And Swine Show at 6 p.m.  Earlier Wednesday, as the Hope Star was hitting the streets, the annual Fair Coffee at the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce happened at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday will also mark a full day of scheduled activities from Baked Goods and Cut Flowers starting at 9 a.m. followed up by judging in those categories at 10:30 p.m. as well as Horticulture and Plants.
Throughout much of Thursday afternoon, exhibits will be on display with the Hay Show starting at 5 p.m. and the popular Beef, Sheep, Chicken and Rabbit show starting at 6 p.m.
Friday’s main event will be the Premium Sale and Luncheon.  The Luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. as a lead-in for the Premium Sale itself starting at 12:30 p.m.
Also happening will be the Educational exhibits display from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. will mark the traditional Livestock check-out.
Also, the Miss Hempstead County Fair pageant sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi returns to the Hempstead County Fairgrounds, happening at the Fair Park Coliseum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 2.
Gigi Bradshaw, a coordinator for the Little Miss pageant, said the younger aged competitions, like the Little Miss Hempstead, will get started at 10 a.m., while older girls like Jr. Miss Hempstead County will start at approximately 3 p.m.
Confirmed contestants for Saturday as the Hope Star was preparing for press Tuesday night were: Sophia Simmons, Baby Miss; Sawyer Burns, Tiny Miss; Natilee Otis, Toddler Miss; Brookelyn Bradley, Little Miss; Kenzi Burns, Little Miss; Olivia Simmons, Little Miss; Payton Hardee, Petite Miss; Adison Miley, Young Miss; Gracie Gilbert, Jr. Miss, and Jaci Johnson, Jr. Miss.
