During the July 11 Hope City Board Meeting, the Dennis Ramsey Endowed Scholarship was officially announced.

During the July 11 Hope City Board Meeting, the Dennis Ramsey Endowed Scholarship was officially announced.  Ramsey was on the Hope City Board for 38 years, most of the time serving as Hope Mayor, and he still sits on the University of Arkansas-Hope Board of Visitors as well as the Hope Water & Light Board. Ramsey’s longtime friend and UA-Hope Chancellor Chris Thomason called the endowment “an appropriate way to forever memorialize the work Ramsey has done over 40 years for both the city and the community.”
“Now, it is appropriate that one student every year receiving this scholarship will be helped obtain a better education and life, and hopefully, establish themselves in Hope,” Thomason said.
Ramsey himself addressed the Hope City Board, briefly thanking them for supporting the endowed scholarship.
Although private individuals were said to have contributed to the endowment, it was later revealed by current Mayor Steve Montgomery in a public Facebook comment that the City of Hope also contributed $2,500 in city funds.
