Ever notice the writing style of Mr. Clark Vernon? He writes a letter or two each month to the Village Voice and covers the same ground over and over.
He complains about our governance, complains about paid employees, complains about volunteers and the organizations they support, complains about a street culvert, complains when we change auditors and complains when he feels there are too many email “propaganda” updates from the POA. He labels some of our neighbors “mafia” and others “stupid.”
Over the past few months his letters might indicate he is an expert on accounting systems, expert on culvert repair, expert on governance and the law, expert on financial audits, expert on geothermal HVAC, expert on golf course management, expert on property management, expert on bulk sale of vacant lots and expert on retirement demographics.
Where are concrete recommendations or specific suggestions from Mr. Vernon?
What positive actions has he taken? Teddy Roosevelt is quoted: “Complaining about a problem without posing a solution is called whining.”
Run for office, Mr. Vernon, join a committee, start a petition or gather like-minded residents and protest all the wrongs in front of the POA office.
Please, if you are not going to offer solutions to make things better, then stop the petulant behavior. I suggest being appreciative for what we have and stop the chronic complaining – it bores everybody else, does you no good and doesn’t solve any problems.
Moving to a more idyllic community, if one exists, might be the solution to your problems.
