Hornets, Lady Hornets finish conference second, split wins against Ouachita

The Blevins Hornet and Lady Hornets concluded their 1A-7 Central Conference season series splitting hoop victories against Ouachita on the road on Tuesday, January 31.

In senior high action, the Lady Hornets fell short to the Ouachita Lady Warriors 59-56, but the Hornets came out on top over the Warriors, 46-43.

In senior high girls play, the Lady Hornets trailed the Lady Warriors in the first half, 31-23.  In the second half, the Lady Hornets fell behind by 12 points 41-29 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth, the Lady Hornets out-scored the Lady Warriors 27-18, but  Ouachita would escape with a slim three point win.

In the game, Lady Hornets' Shay Thomas led scoring with 20 points, Asia McDaniel scored 15 points, Aaliyah Richardson had nine points, Tiffany Williamson and Ta'Nell Barton each scored four points apiece. Daiton Butler added three points and Aspen McDaniel chipped in one point.

The Lady Hornets finish the conference season second place with a 5-3 record and 15-13 overall.

In senior high boys play, the Hornets trailed the Warriors at halftime, 25-23. In the second half, the Hornets out-scored the Warriors 23-18, as Blevins defeated Ouachita 46-43.  In the game, Hornets' D.J. Henagan led scoring in double-figures with 16 points and Tank Woodley had nine points.

For Ouachita, Drew   Hamilton led scoring in double-figures with 23 points. The  Hornets finish the conference second with a 18-11 overall record behind Stephens. Tonight, the Hornets and Lady Hornets  return back for hoop action taking on the Prescott Curley Wolves and Lady Wolves for non-conference battles. 

Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., in Prescott. Then on Friday, the Hornets and Lady Hornets   return home hosting Murfreesboro with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. at BHS Gymnasium, in Blevins.
