Ladycats face off against tough Lady Warriors team in conf. hoops

The Hope Ladycats returned home for 5A Southwest Conference hoop action on this past Friday night, January 27, hosting the Little Christian Lady Warriors for their first meeting of the conference season at Jones Field House Gymnasium. 

The Ladycats suffered a 60-22 loss to the Lady Warriors, despite staying close in the opening quarter.

The Ladycats started out the action against the Lady Warriors in a competitive battle. The Ladycats fought hard earlier in the opening quarter, to trail by three points to the Lady Warriors 13-10 at the conclusion of the first quarter.

The Lady Warriors took command in the second quarter out-scoring the Ladycats 12-0. At halftime, the Lady Warriors had a 25-10 lead over the Ladycats.

In the third, the Ladycats managed to score five points as the Lady Warriors poured 19 points giving Hope a 44-15 deficit heading into the final quarter of the night.

In the fourth, the Lady Warriors added 16 points holding the Ladycats to seven points. LR Christian went onto a 38 point win over the Ladycats. In the game, Ladycats' Vantrece Henry and Angelica Fulton led scoring each with five points apiece. Asia Wesley added four points, T'Keyah Warren and Khadijah Conway each had three points apiece.

The Ladycats (1-6, 5-9) now turn their attention to a conference rematch on the road facing Hot Springs this Tuesday night.

Tip-off is set for 5 p.m., beginning with junior varsity action, followed by senior high girls and boys action in Hot Springs.
