Hornets, Lady Hornets split conf. wins on the road against Stephens

The Blevins Hornets and Lady Hornets return back to 1A-7 Central Conference hoops action on last Thursday night splitting wins against Stephens.

In junior high boys action, the jr. Hornets came out big over Stephens 44-27.

In the game, jr. Hornets' Trevon Reed led scoring in double-figures with 14 points and Ben Williamson added 11 points.

With the win, the jr. Hornets improve to 24-1 overall, and unbeaten in conference at 3-0.

In senior high action, the Lady Hornets defeated Stephens, but the Hornets fell short to the Stephens Roadrunners 80-63.

The Lady Hornets pulled out a 61-54 victory over the Stephens Lady Roadrunners and sweep their conference season series meeting.

The Lady Hornets trailed the Lady Roadrunners at halftime, 24-20.
In the second half, the Lady Hornets out-scored Stephens 41-30 to take a seven point win on the road.

In the game, Lady Hornets' Shay Thomas led scoring in double-figures with 23 points, Asia McDaniel dropped 20 points for double-digit scoring and Ta'Nell Barton added six points.
For Stephens, A.J. Jones led scoring with 20 points.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 15-12 overall, 5-2 in conference.

In senior high boys play, the Hornets stayed close with the Roadrunners having a three point deficit at halftime, 38-35.
In the second half, the Hornets scored 28 points, but Stephens out-scored Blevins with 42 points.

The roadrunners would go on to a 17 point win and sweep the Hornets in their conference season series matchup.

In the game, Hornets' Travon Stevenson led scoring in double-figures with 19 points, Montae Gentry had 18 points and Tank Woodley added 11 points.

The Hornets fall to 17-11 overall and 3-4 in conference.

For Stephens, Travon Harper led scoring in double-figures with 23 points.
This Tuesday, the Hornets and Lady Hornets will travel on the road to face Ouachita for 1A-7 Central hoop action.

Tip -off is set for 5:30 p.m., beginning with junior high boys action,        followed by senior high girls and boys play in Ouachita.
