The Hope Bobkittens looked to overcome their tough defeat against Lakeside from a month ago in a return matchup on this past Monday, to conclude the season series, for ninth grade boys junior high hoops play at Jones Field House Gymnasium.
The Bobkittens made their battle competitive in the first half, but Hope fell short in the second half as Lakeside went on to edge off the Bobkittens, 42-25 and sweep the season series meetings.
In the first quarter, the Bobkittens jumped to a 4-0 lead with Steven Caple and JaMario Love going perfect at the free-throw hitting 2 of 2 shots. The jr. Rams took over with the lead later in the quarter as the Bobkittens had a 12-9 deficit at the end of the first period.
In the second, Bobkittens' Keuntai Monk and Jaquez Smith scored the only baskets for Hope as Lakeside matched scoring with four points manage a slim three point lead at halftime, 16-13.
In the second half, Lakeside out-scored the Bobkittens, 26-12 as the jr. Rams would escape with victory on the road.
In the game, Bobkittens' Jaquez Smith led scoring in double-figures with 10 points, Caple scored nine points. Love, Monk and Raysean Potts all had two points apiece.
This Thursday, February 2 the Bobkittens will square off against Magnolia on the road for eighth and ninth grade boys hoops action.
Tip-off is set for 5 p.m., in Magnolia.
