The Hope eighth and ninth grade Ladykittens had tough battles at home against Lakeside on this past Monday night at Jones Field House Gymnasium.
The eighth grade Ladykittens fought hard as always, but fell to Lakeside, 27-13.
In the game, Ladykittens' Mondi Cox led scoring with four points, Shasmakelyia Woodburg and Ka'Mesha Conway each had two points apiece.
In ninth grade girls play, the Ladykittens took control early over Lakeside for a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Jasmyne Farris sparked big with nine first quarter points for the Ladykittens.
In the second quarter, Lakeside marched their way back into the game out-scoring Hope, 15-0 as the Ladykittens trailed at halftime, 23-12.
In the second half, the Ladykittens overcame their scoreless second quarter play scoring six points in the third quarter, then adding nine in the fourth to combine for 15 points in the half.
Lakeside would score 21 points for the second half, as the Ladykittens went down in a tough defeat, 44-29 to the jr. Lady Rams.
In the game, Ladykittens' Farris led scoring in double-figures with 19 points and Quiana Key had four points.
For Lakeside, M.Perrigo led scoring in double-figures with 19 points and K. Herron scored in double-digits with 13 points.
The Ladykittens look to regroup from their previous defeats as they'll be back at home on Thursday, February 2 hosting Magnolia for eighth and ninth grade girls hoops.
