This year will be a Halloween marked with several events for young and old alike. The weatherman says it will be rainy and cold, so appropriate dress and precautions against trips and falls, and vehicles are added to the mix.
First United Methodist Church will host its annual trunk or treat on Saturday, between 6-9 p.m. Dr. Tandy Hanson, pastor, says that “it will be a lot of fun for the whole family.” The event will be held at the church, which is located off Arkansas Highway 29 South near the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.
The second annual Fall Frenzy will be held on Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m., at Grandpa’s Place in Patmos. Everyone is invited for food and fun, including a bounce house, a cake-walk, trunk-or-treat, hayrides, homemade chili, and much more. Entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. and features The Homesteaders, from Weleetka, Okla., as well as local talent.
Another tradition on Halloween is sponsored by the First Baptist Church in Hope. There will be food and games along with activities for everyone. The church, located at Third and Main, will sponsor a trunk or treat on the back parking lot of the church. The event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m.
First Presbyterian Church will host their trunk or treat event on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. on the church parking lot on South Main Street. Children who want their picuture taken in their costumes will be able to leave their information with the photographer, the Rev. Phil McLarty, and receive their pictures.
“I took a lot of good pictures last year, but no one gave me their names, so I couldn’t get them to them,” McLarty said. “This year, I’ll be able to give them their pictures.”
Beebe C.M.E. Church at 416 N. Hazel St., will celebrate their Harvest Fest on Saturday, from 6-9 p. m., at the church. Children and adults should wear their fun costumes for judging for first, second, and third prizes. A haunted house will be on site and admission is $1, with games priced at 25 cents each.
Calvary Baptist Church is hosting a block party, with games, trunk or treat, and a cookout. The event will take place on Saturday from 4-6 p.m.
Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Hope will sponsor a fall fest at the church, located at 315 S. Walker St., on Saturday, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
As with years past, Andy’s Restaurant will stay open until 8 p.m. and any child under the age of 12 in a costume will receive a junior burger.
All events are free, except where specified, and are open to the public.
