  • Jewel Dean Watkins Moore, 92, of Hope, joyfully went to be with her heavenly father and loved ones on June 15, lovingly surrounded by her three children.

  • Jewel Dean Watkins Moore, 92, of Hope, joyfully went to be with her heavenly father and loved ones on June 15, lovingly surrounded by her three children.
    Mrs. Moore was a devoted and selfless mother, mother-in-law, grandma, sister, and friend and was loved beyond measure. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and dear friends. Despite her loss of vision from age related macular degeneration, she continued her life long love of reading through countless audio books. She also enjoyed talking on the phone to her family and friends keeping current on news and politics. She was born October 10, 1921, in Washington, to Sherman and Ethel Manus Cox.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Martha Cox. She was preceded in death by two husbands, at age 17 she married the love of her life and father of her children, Lester Neal “Jack” Watkins. Later in her life she was blessed to have married Norman Moore, who was a loving and devoted husband and friend to her family.
    Mrs. Moore was a retired secretary for Garland Elementary School for 30 years, a home maker, a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Hope for many years and a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class.
    Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Jack Watkins, wife, Donna, and Bo Watkins, wife, Sandra, all of Hope; daughter, Joan Smith, husband, Paul, of Texarkana, Texas,; brother, Larry Cox, of Bentonville; three sisters, June Phillips and Nell Jones, both of Hope, and Mary Martin, of Spring Hill; five grandchildren, Clint Watkins, wife, Suzanna, of Hope, Wesley Watkins, of Bismarck, Christy Watkins, of Little Rock, Lauren Smith, of Alexandria, Va., and Ryan Smith, of Texarkana, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Ty and Ana Marie Watkins; special family members, Kenneth Gillam, of Hot Springs, Sarah Gillam Egan, of Seattle, Wash., and Dan Gillam, of Cabot; special family friend, Jimmy Howell, of Hope; and a host of other family and friends.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church, 402 S. Hervey, Hope, Ar., 71801, or to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation at www.macular.org/donations online.
    Page 2 of 2 - Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, with Bro. Glen Tropp officiating. Arrangements are by Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope, Eddie Brazzel, Director.
