  • The Hope Public School Board went through the agenda and approved most of the items on the table on Monday evening.
In unfinished business, updates for the Certified Personnel Policy were read, but no action was taken.
In new business, the board approved the purchase of a 2014 Ford Expedition to be used for training and events.
When several people have luggage and are enroute to the airport for a conference, a car is just not big enough,” Superintendent Bobby Hart explained.
An update was given on the Classified Salary Schedule and student insurance bids for catastrophic coverage.
The catastrophic insurance is to cover students on school trips, at school functions, and at sporting events,” Hart said.
The student handbook revisions were next in the discussion. This is the first reading on this subject, so the board will either accept or reject the revisions at the next board meeting, according to Hart.
Discussion was raised about the North end zone walkway at Hammons Stadium and the board approved the work on the area.
We will make the north end zone walkway as smooth and accessible as the south endzone walkway,” Hart said. “That way, people with handicaps and disabilities can get through there easier and safer.”
Routine maintenance on the roof at Clinton Primary School was discussed and approved by the board.
Flooring replacement bids were taken into consideration for Clinton Primary, where carpet needs replaced in some areas.
The new carpet would be more sanitary and easier to clean,” Hart said.
There was also a request to take bids on some used equipment, including but not limited to a bus, an old Chevy Blazer, and a a zero-turn mower, according to Hart. The school system is taking these items off the inventory and will probably sell them for scrap metal.
Page 2 of 2 - Personnel was the next agenda on the item and several people were hired and several people's resignations were accepted. Both classified and certified personnel were involved in the process.
