  • Bobcats return from Texas with hardware, win Gold Division in Annual Paris Guaranty Bond Holiday hoops tourney

  • For the second consecutive year, the Hope Bobcats returned from the big state of Texas with genuine hardware from winning the Gold Bracket Division in the 4th Annual Paris Guaranty Bond Holiday Tournament in Paris, Texas over the weekend.

  • For the second consecutive year, the Hope Bobcats returned from the big state of Texas with genuine hardware from winning the Gold Bracket Division in the 4th Annual Paris Guaranty Bond Holiday Tournament in Paris, Texas over the weekend. The Bobcats displayed some intense and impressive play on the hardwood in Texas against a variety of Texas' quality basketball programs. The Cats improved their play on the second day of tourney play to prevail over North Lamar 47-45 led by senior forward Kenneth “K.J.” Thompson with 11 points. Then continuing tourney action later the second day on Saturday December 27, the Cats dominated Waskcom 56-35 for a 21 point win. The Cats' was led by junior guard Jaquez Smith who displayed a outstanding performance to post a 27 point game marking it his season-high. On the final day of tourney play, the Bobcats came away victorious over Roxton 69-58 to capture the Gold Bracket Division title. The Bobcats were led by Smith who outdone his previous game performance against Waskcom and busted the net for an impressive 29 points for his season high thus far. Thompson followed with 19 points for double-figuring scoring with Smith's 20 plus point effort in the tournament. The Cats improve their overall record to 6-3 thus far and have resulted great team chemistry developed due to their performances in Paris. Head coach Sam Bradford have thought this tournament is good for his troops to perform, which helps prepare them to be ready to compete in the 5A South Conference. The Paris Guaranty Bond Holiday tournament provides high quality basketball programs to compete, which the 5A South Conference presents every game. The Bobcats have a challenging task ahead of them with the quality ball clubs the conference will give. The Cats have a team of experience from last season and will be one of the top contenders that are expected to finish in the top four spots for the state tournament. The Cats have fallen short to make the state tournament in past seasons, but this year they're ready to make their appearance if everyone can stay healthy. The Cats will return back to the hardwood on for non-conference play on the road against Arkansas High January 7 in Texarkana. Then, the Cats continue more road action to open 5A South Conference hardwood at White Hall January 10. The hometown fans won't get to see the Cats in action at Jones Field House Gymnasium until January 14 hosting rivals' Magnolia Panthers, then De Queen on January 21, 2014.
