Sgt. 1st Class Ricardo Deandrell Young, 34, of Rosston, died in the line of duty Wednesday, August 28, 2013, in Afghanistan. SFC Young was born November 28, 1978, in Prescott, to Richard Young and Dexter A. Evans-Young. He attended Oak Grove High School and was a 1997 graduate of Nevada High School. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Rosston. He was currently serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, April Young, of Fayetteville, N.C.; son, Markell Artist and daughter, Make’La Young, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; his parents, Richard and Dexter Young of Rosston; sister, Sharona Young, of Rosston; his grandmother, Joy C. Heard; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, at 11 a.m. at the Nevada County High School Gymnasium in Rosston, with burial following in the New Salem Cemetery in Rosston, with full military honors, under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Marsh. Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
