  • (To be read accompanied by The William Tell Overture.) Return with us now, to those thrilling days about four weeks ago, when the Hope Watermelon Festival tee shirts were shipped... “Look, Toto,” the Lone Chamber Man exclaimed. “It's Ton-to.” “Right; got it, Toto. This shipment of Hope Watermelon Festival tee shirts has got to get through in time for the festival Aug. 8-10 at Hope Fair Park.” They stole with stealthy silence side by side to see the selection of shirts. “Hmmmm.” “Well said, Toto...” “Ton-to, Ton-to.” “We must be certain that we have all the sizes and color styles, including the popular tie-dyed tee shirts,” the masked purveyor of truth, justice and watermelons declared. “Got 'em in white, blue, orange, pink, and brilliant yellow solids; and rainbow, cool green, and a limited number of brilliant yellow-pink tie-dyed colors, Chambosabe.” There they lay, brilliant in the summer sun in adult sizes small to extra large in solid colors for $13 each; sizes 2x to 3x at $15; and, children's solid colors $10 each. “Look at the value of these adult sizes small to extra large in tie-dyed colors marked $16 each; sizes 2x to 3x at $18; and children's tie-dyed colors $16 each,” our hero remarked. “It's remarkable, Toto.” “Ton-to, already.” “Yes, we must get them to the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce offices at Second and Main streets, pronto,” the masked man replied. And, with a cloud of dust, and a hearty “Hi-ho Watermelon,” our hero and his faithful, if misnamed, sidekick rode off into the summer sunset, leaving bystanders to wonder.... Who was that masked man? Who cares; but, did you see the killer Hope Watermelon Festival tee shirt he was wearing?
