Authorities were continuing the investigation at press time today into the shooting death of a local man, and the injury of a second victim.
Details remained sketchy, but authorities were called to a residence on East Greenwood Street in the predawn hours today to investigate what appears to have been home invasion shooting.
Hope Police Assistant Chief Kim Tomlin said this morning that authorities were called to the scene in the 1000 block of North Greening Street about 2:45 a.m., where Roger Hall, 36, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
“A second victim, Lamario Henderson, 24, of Hope, was transported to LSU Hospital with multiple lacerations and burn wounds,” Tomlin said. “According to witnesses, several unknown masked suspects were involved in this incident.”
Authorities are searching for a black Dodge Magnum with Texas license plates, she said.
“Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Daniel Lauterbach at 870-722-2576, or Lieutenant Jimmy Courtney at 870-722-2560,” Tomlin said.
Hempstead County Coroner Ben Brazzel said that he was called to Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope shortly after 4 a.m., where he pronounced Hall dead. Brazzel said an official determination of cause and manner of death will be required from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.
“The body is going to the crime lab for an official ruling, which will probably take them a few days to get back,” he said.
However, Brazzel confirmed that his initial ruling is that Hall died as the result of a multiple gunshot wounds.
