Carrying through on a promise of upgrades to equipment and services in the first year of operations of Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope, the hospital now has a new telephone system; and, a new telephone number. Beginning Wednesday, main operator services for the hospital can be accessed at 870-722-3800, Tom Gilbert, WRMC-H CEO, announced Friday. “Providing high quality, compassionate care in a hometown setting is our goal,” Gilbert said in the announcement. “In an effort to be more efficient and better serve our community, we have installed a new phone system.” The change in the telephone number, he said, stems from bankruptcy proceedings involving the former ownership of the hospital. “The change was necessitated in part to do the installation of the new phone system along with issues encountered with the bankrupt entity,” Gilbert said. “Attempting to make the transition as seamless as possible, the current numbers will forward to the new numbers temporarily.” The hospital will also provide free “refrigerator magnets” at the main lobby desk, beginning Friday, to help local residents make the phone number transition. And, a complete listing of departmental telephone numbers will be available at www.wadleyhealthhope.com online, according to the announcement. Gilbert said earlier this year that the hospital's parent, IASIS/Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, was working to make such changes in light of the bankruptcy of the former Hope Medical Park Hospital, LLC, which has recently been converted from Chapter 11 bankruptcy to Chapter 7 to facilitate a final distribution of claims. Gilbert said in an April interview that electrical services and computer issues would need to be worked out prior to the installation of new phone services, part of a million-dollar investment by Wadley and its parent, Brim Holdings of Texas.
