  • A new home for the local Arkansas Workforce Center and related agencies is about a third of the way toward completion on the campus of the Hope Migrant Center. The 5,040-square foot building will house offices for the Department of Workforce Services, Workforce Investment Act partners, and the Arkansas Human Development Corp., according to DWS spokesperson Kimberly Friedman. “We are renovating 1,200-square feet of the existing facility at the complex and are adding 5,040-square feet,” Friedman said. She said the entire DWS staff and related staffs will be moved to the new complex. “After our staff move to the new facility, the building on Elm Street will be put up for sale,” Friedman said. There are currently 15 DWS staffers at the Elm Street facility, which is about 50 years old, and is beyond repair, she said. Renovations to the current administrative/clinic/education complex at the Hope Migrant Center are also part of the project, which has been financed through the Arkansas Development Financing Authority. Cost of the total project is estimated at $1.75 million.
