A 16-year old Prescott girl was killed in a weekend of accidents in Hempstead County and Nevada counties.
Tiara N. Brooks, 16, of Prescott, died as a result of a one-car accident north of Emmet on Saturday night at approximately 9:55 p.m., according to the Arkansas State Police. The accident injured her passenger and sent him to an area hospital.
According to ASP reports, Brooks was driving a 2007 Chevy Malibu north on U.S. Highway 67 at Emmet, when she failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the east side of the road, collided with several trees, and overturned.
ASP Trooper Bryan Christenson's report said Brooks was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead on the scene by Nevada County Coroner David Gummeson. Brooks' body was taken to Pharr Funeral Home in Prescott, pending announcement of funeral arrangements.
Brooks' passenger, 18-year-old Tiere M. Gulley, of Prescott, was injured and was taken to Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana.
A two car collision on Hwy. 67, at the intersection of 67 and Rosston Road, sent the driver of a pickup truck to a local hospital. The wreck occurred at approximately 10:49 a.m. on Sunday, according to Hope Police Department reports.
A 17-year old juvenile was driving a 1996 Chevy pickup truck, and allegedly pulled in front of a 2007 GMC pickup truck driven by Brianna Otwell, of Texarkana. The 17-year-old had a 13-year-old passenger in the truck, who was not injured. Otwell was reportedly not injured, as well. The juvenile driver, who was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, was issued several citations in the aftermath of the crash, according to the HPD.
