Gill Lee Robinson, 69, of Hope, formerly of El Dorado, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope.
Gill Lee Robinson, 69, of Hope, formerly of El Dorado, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope. Mr. Robinson was born on October 3, 1943, in Strong, to the late Floyd and Fannie L Benton Robinson. Gill was the third of 12 children born to his parents. His paternal grandparents are Henry and Aurola Robinson. His maternal grandparents are Armster and Minnie White Benton. He became a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ at an early age. Later in life he became a member of Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church in Hope AR. He was a member of the male chorus and an instrumental part of the Sunday school class. He remained a faithful member until death. Gill started his education in the Strong Public School system where he graduated from. Soon after, he went to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he got his Bachelor of Science degree in teaching. Teaching was a passion of his. He taught adult education for 46 years and he was still actively teaching at the time of his death. His last employer was Garland Learning Center with the GED program, in Hope Arkansas. Gill loved his family and friends dearly. He would travel home as often as he could to visit his them. He was most known for generous spirit and he gave dearly from his heart. He was even generous to his students and to strangers. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Robert and Randy Robinson; and, two sisters, Nadell Richardson and Georgetta McCree. Gill's loving memories will be forever cherished by his three sisters, Emma Christian and Maebell (Roy) Pumphrey, both of Strong, and Melverlean (ElRee) Bivens, of El Dorado; three brothers Arizona (Stella), Tice (Mary), and Bill (Gloria) Robinson, all of El Dorado; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great great nephews, friends and collegues that will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Rev. Alvin Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Strong, under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home in El Dorado.
