Tickets to the annual Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce banquet are still available, Chamber Executive Director Mark Keith said today.
Banquet tickets are $25 each, and may be purchased at the Chamber offices at the corner of Main and Second streets.
Razorback color commentator and sports radio guru Rick Schaeffer will keynote the evening program, offering his own brand of sports insight into the University of Arkansas Razorback sports program. Schaeffer is the former Sports Information Director for the University of Arkansas, and he is also a well-known broadcaster currently heard daily on 'Drive-Time Sports' on the Buzz, 103.7 FM, as well as on Razorback football broadcasts.
Schaeffer's appearance at the Chamber banquet is underwritten by Summit Bank of Hope.
Chamber honors for Citizen of the Year and Educator of the Year will be announced during the banquet by the 2012 honorees, Richard Hogue and Kim McMullan. Nominations for those honors closed Thursday.
Incoming Chamber President Wendy Jones has chosen “Ready, Set, Grow” as the Chamber's community program for 2013, and the banquet will be the first major community dinner in the banquet facilities at Hempstead Hall, the new $10 million conference/performing arts center on the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope campus.
This year's menu will be fajitas and fixins, catered by Amigo Juan Mexican Restaurant in Hope, Keith said.
The annual banquet will begin with the traditional silent auction, which will open bidding at 5:30 p.m., and will close bidding at the beginning of the evening's program, Keith said. Serving for the evening meal will begin at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m., he said.
