Clyde Lyndon Scroggins, 91, of Hope, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Scroggins was born July 12, 1921, in Springfield, Missourito Ollie and Elsie Scroggins. He moved to Hope from Benton on February 15 1960. He was devoted to his family. He was the owner of Scroggins Tire Store, an avid gardener and was a U.S. Army veteran, and served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vadie Janelle Scroggins; brothers, Wilbern, Floyd, Roy, A. Z. and Franklin Scroggins; sisters,Lela Brent, Lou Ella Dahn, Retha Blaylock, and Arvilla Schimmel; and one son-in-law, Howard Allen. He is survived by one son, Glen Dale Scroggins and his wife; Judy; of Hope; one daughter, Linda Kay Allen, of Hope; two brothers, O.C. Scroggins and Henry Scroggins, both of Benton; one grandson, Kenny Lee Scroggins; one granddaughter, Glenda Gayle Newton (Bob); two great-grandsons, Patrick Newton (Kelli) and Daniel Newton; two great-granddaughters, Courtney Scroggins and Cassidy Scroggins; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kenley Belle Newton. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home in Hope. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 10, at 2 p.m. in the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Glenn Tropp officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
