  • The Hope Ladykittens continue to improve their play on the hardwood to start out the new year's hoop action in ninth grade junior high play. The Ladykittens had two close battles against Prescott and Camden-Fairview to tip-off the 2013 for the second part of the 2012-13 basketball season.On January 3, the Ladykittens faced off against the Prescott Lady Cubs. The Ladykittens competed hard, but fell short to the Lady Cubs 32-27 for a five point defeat. In the game, Ladykittens' Tatyanna Smith led scoring in double-figures with 14 points. Nykeivia Horton scored five points, Tycoriana Briggs added three points, Ameiah Trotter and Dalisia Brown each contributed two points apiece and Nakya Griffin had one point. On this past Monday night, the Ladykittens fell short to Camden-Fairview Jr. Lady Cardinals 34-29. In the game, Ladykittens' Briggs led scoring in double-figures with 10 points and swished two trey's from behind the arc. Griffin scored six points with a trey, Tatyanna Smith posted five points and Amy Pinson had three points, which was a trey from behind the arc. The Ladykittens will return to hoop action this Thursday January 10 to face off against Prescott for a rematch battle to conclude the season series at Jones Field House Gymnasium. Tip-off will follow eight grade girls play at 5 p.m.
