  • The Spring Hill Lady Bears opened the 2013 new year with big dominating wins for 7-2A West Conference basketball action on the road against Dierks this past Friday night.In junior high girls action, the Jr. Lady Bears pulled out a 20 point win over the Jr. Lady Outlaws, 45-25. The Jr. Lady Bears opened up the first quarter exploding the scoreboard to 17 points and held Dierks to nine. In the second quarter, the Jr. Lady Bears out-scored Dierks 10-4 as Spring Hill went into the locker room with a 27-13 lead at halftime. In the second half, the Jr. Lady Bears finished off the Jr. Lady Outlaws out-scoring them 18-12. The Jr. Lady Bears went on to victory and remains undefeated in conference at 4-0.In the game, Jr. Lady Bears' Lacy Knox led scoring in double-figures with 12 points and had five steals with four rebounds. Lilly Kidd posted double-digits with 10 points, dished out three assists and had four steals. Kaitlyn Ward scored nine points with nine steals, Mallory Kidd scored six points with two assists, Julie Plant contributed four points and snatched seven rebounds. Kelsy Gammage added three points and Bailey Yocom had one point with five rebounds. For senior high girls action, the Lady Bears rolled over the Dierks Lady Outlaws for a 20 point win 64-44 in their first meeting in conference play. In the opening period, the Lady Bears sparked on the hardwood to take a 20-9 lead over Dierks. In the second quarter, the Lady Bears out-scored the Lady Outlaws 16-15 as Spring Hill headed into the locker room at halftime with a 36-24 lead. n the second half, the Lady Bears poured the points on the scoreboard for 28 points and Dierks managing 20 points. The Lady Bears would go onto be victorious and remain undefeated to improve for a 13-0 overall record and 7-0 in conference play. For the game, Lady Bears' Lauren Kidd led all scorers for another outstanding performance with a big 28 points and swished two trey's from behind the arc in double-figures. Rachel Medina followed with 13 points and blazed the net for three trey's from behind the arc. Jamie Nance posted 10 points in double-digits, Claire McMaster scored five points with one trey from behind the arc. Madison Kidd, Jesse Roberts, Lakyn Kidd and Sidney Orr all scored two points apiece. Tonight, the Lady Bears will continue conference action on the road facing the Mineral Springs Lady Hornets to conclude their conference series meeting at Saratoga High School Gymnasium. The Jr. Lady Bears return to conference play on Friday January 11 hosting Murfreesboro. The Jr. Lady Bears are competing in the Genoa Jr. High tournament this week scheduled Jan. 7-12.
