Arkansas picked up two wins last week by defeating Robert Morris, 79-74, and Alabama A&M, 95-68. The Razorbacks currently have a season best tying three-game winning streak. Junior Marshawn Powell became the 35th player in Arkansas history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark when he scored 20 against Alabama A&M, he now has 1,001 career points. Powell is just the ninth player in Arkansas history to have 1,000 points, 400 rebounds and 70 blocks in a career. For the week, Powell averaged 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, shot 62.5 percent from the field with four assists, one block and three steals. Sophomore BJ Young averaged 18.0 points on the week with 4.5 rebounds and led the team with 14 assists to just seven turnovers, in the Alabama A&M game Young had a career high nine assists and just one turnover .Sophomore Hunter Mickelson continues his improvement and averaged 12.5 points and 5.0 rebounds with five blocks, three steals, two assists and no turnovers, against Robert Morris, Arkansas rallied from an eight-point deficit mid-way through the opening period to take a one-point lead into the half. The Razorbacks opened the Alabama A&M game by making each of their first seven shots and did not have a miss from the field until 16:21 left in the first half. The Razorback game against Alabama A&M was played at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Ark. Arkansas returns to the court on Saturday, Dec. 29, when it faces Northwestern State at Bud Walton Arena, televised at 7 p.m. on RSN (Razorback Sports Network).
