Ringing in the new year will bring some changes to business hours for most local governmental offices next week.
Ringing in the new year will bring some changes to business hours for most local governmental offices next week. Schools throughout Hempstead County have already dismissed for the holiday vacation and students will return to class on Jan. 7. University of Arkansas Community College at Hope students are already on Christmas break, and classes will resume on campus Jan. 2. Hempstead County Courthouse will be closed Jan. 1, as will all County departments, according to Hempstead County Judge Wallace Martin's office. County trash collections for Tuesday, Jan. 1, will be collected on Wednesday, along with regular collections. Hope City Hall will be closed Jan. 1, and all City of Hope departments will observe the same schedule. Commercial trash collections will be on regular schedules. Residential garbage collection will be collected as usual on Monday, Dec. 31, but Tuesday collections will be delayed until Wednesday, along with regular collections. The City landfill will be closed on Jan. 1. There will not be any rubbish collections that week. Hope Water and Light Corp. offices will also be closed Jan. 1 only. The William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace National Historic Site will be closed Jan. 1, and the Hope Visitor Information Center Depot will be closed Jan. 1. The Hempstead County Library is closed until Jan. 2. Offices of the Hope Star will close at noon Monday, Dec. 31, and re-open for regular hours Wednesday, Jan. 2. No newspaper will be published on Jan. 1, and publication will resume on Jan. 2.
